 <title>[orocosusers] Dynamic port type</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Dear Orocos users,&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;In order to make a component as general as possible I decided to make a&lt;br /&gt;
property which would give the possibility to choose the port type e.g.&lt;br /&gt;
choose between KDL::Twist, std::vector, geometry_msgs:Twist.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;- So my first question is, what is the best way of doing this?&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>CORBA transport, component to non-component</title>

&lt;p&gt;- Ubuntu 14.04 - Orocos Toolchain 2.8 - omniORB4&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I want to create a non-component client to communicate (operations/ports) with a component server across the network using CORBA.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I manage to get two components through the network using CORBA, which is rather straightforward to set up, since the deployer registers CORBA transports for the typekits.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;So I am pretty much covered from the server side.&lt;/p&gt;

 <title>[orocosusers] EtherCAT communication</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;Dear Orocos-Users&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I am using soem to read data at 800Hz in a real-time kernel and I&lt;br /&gt;
occasionally get the warning of&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;*[ Warning][soem] receiving data failed*&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I perform this operation using my own laptop (XPS-15-9530 with no&lt;br /&gt;
built-in Ethernet + USB3-Ethernet adapter).&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Does anyone know why is the information lost somewhere? Is this because&lt;br /&gt;
of not having a physical Ethernet card?&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;This is my kernel: 3.18.42-rt45 #2 SMP PREEMPT RT x86_64 GNU/Linux&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;and I have installed Orocos, Ros, Soem from standard ubuntu repository...&lt;/p&gt;

(C3.outport) or a ros node (N1.topic), what do I get in the following&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I am running indigo+14.04,&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;i need to use the soem master, I execute&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;sudo setcap cap_net_raw+ep /opt/ros/indigo/bin/rttlua-gnulinux&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;after doing that calling the rttlua gives&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;$ rttlua-gnulinux&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;p&gt;something similar happens also for the normal deployer (after the setcap&lt;br /&gt;
